Great Western Bike Rally - 2008
Each year, for the last ten years, we have spent
Memorial Day weekend in Paso  Robles camped in the
fairgrounds. It is a great weekend of riding bikes and
meeting new people. We have watched children grow up
and groups expand to over 40 people. There aren't many
pictures because mostly we spend our days rinding.
This year we rode 110 miles and climbed 4100 feet. We
did take some pictures and they are presented here.
A panorama picture of the group that camps behind us each year. Their
group has grown to 12 families. Here they are getting organized for the
Saturday ride. Every one rides even the babies who sit in baby seats(see the
last bike in the line). The kids did great, we saw them on Sunday
returning form the train display at Silvester Winery, they were going up
one of the steepest hills on the whole ride and doing great!
This couple and the children are planning to ride
across Ohio in July. The bike on top of the car is a
four person tandem. If you look closely you will
se that the second seat has a second set of gears up
high. That is for the very small boy. He really
works on that bike. We wish them luck and hope
they will send pictures.
And then to the mundane pictures of us on various rides.
This is Alana Michales and her father
Larry. Two years ago she was the mayor of
Bike Town. This year she won every
category in her age group.
