Day one - Thursday April 5th
La Canada to Buckeye AZ
Day two Friday April 6 th
Buckeye, AZ to Tucson
Mountain Park Tucson, AZ
Well we had intended to drive about
250 miles today but when we got to
Quartzite, AZ we felt good it
looked rundown and we drove on to
Buckeye, AZ. We had a nice ride
around the town( about 12 miles and
called it a day 377 miles)
Well here we are in one of our favorite places. Tucson Mountain Park is on the west of Tucson across a
small mountain range and in the middle of a beautiful Saguaro forest. We spent the late afternoon( when
it cooled some from the high around 100) photographing the ocotillo, saguaro, and various cholla. (160
miles)

old Saguaro.
Day 3 April 7th Tucson Mountain Park to
Demming NM. 5 hours and 250 miles.
Yesterday in Tucson it was 98-100 today
when we got here at 4300 feet it is 70 and
clear. New Mexico has a booming wine
industry so naturally we had to check in on
that (see the picture at the right) tomorrow we
are off to Mesilla NM for some great
Mexican food.

Day 4 April 8th Demming NM to Mesilla NM. We got up 37
degrees this morning in Demming. After breakfast we headed to
the Rockhound Staten Park for some rock gathering and flower
photos. Got both; see photos below. Back to the RV park and
away for a long day of 60 + miles to Mesilla. Mesilla is one of
the oldest towns in the Southwest. It was a major stop on the
Butterfield Stage line and was once the largest town between
San Diego and San Antonio. We went into old town for a late
lunch / early dinner at La Posta and MA found the perfect
bowl in a gallery. She did some photographing for future water
color projects.(see to the right). Tonight it is cool and looks
like it could rain but will not.

Day 5 April 9th at Mesilla NM. We got in a
ride today in spite of the WIND. The ride
was along the Rio Grande where the
Tamaerisks were in bloom(see picture to the
right). Then we ran errands (yes you still have
to do things like that on the road)
Later we stopped at the Nambe Outlet
store and got an new bowl. J and S will love it.
Thanks to Anne and Joy for turning us on to
Nambe so long ago.(Anne, below is a picture
of us in front of the store from which I called
you)
