Day three February 2nd
Furnace Creek - Sunset RV Campground
A day doing all the basic things one should
do in Death Valley. We will see Bad Water
(lowest point in the Western Hemisphere)
Zabriskie Point  and Manley Beacon, Artist
Palette, the remains of Mushroom Rock,
Devils Golf Course and the Visitor Center.
Walking in the "Golf " course  and a close up
of the very sharp salt pan formations
Next was a stop at Artist Palette
for lunch and some play
MA visits with a raven. He talked
up a storm but she did not feed him.
At BadwaterBasin--282 feet below sea
level ( An older picture of MA there)
A view across the Basin to Telescope Peak- 11,049 feet
above sea level. Once upon a time it was a regular climb
on MA's birthday(May 12th).
And then to the best part of the day for the
twins..... Play on big rocks.
and finally we had to have a picture of what
remains of Mushroom Rock. Years ago it was capped
with a large flat part; that was broken off several
years ago when some Scouts climbed up on it to take
a picture. Now the site is off the NPS map and the
parking area is closed. It helps to have long memories
to find things like this still.
