I married Toney Trumps a month after I
graduated from high school and he graduated
from McNeese. I graduated from McNeese in
the summer of '78. We then moved to
Beaufort ,SC where I taught English and
Speech at a technical college. Toney bought
a real estate agency, and later I sold real
estate also. In '79 our middle son, Reid, was
killed by a drunk driver. He was 16. Our two
children, Christi( 47), and Matt (37) , live in
Beaufort and now own and run the real estate
office.
In Nov. 2002 Toney and I were in Sulphur
attending his 50th high school reunion. He
had a massive stroke and died 3 days later.
We had been married 45 years and together
48 years. His death has left a terrible void in
my life, but I am fortunate that I have my
children and 4 grandchildren living so close to
me.
Shayne, (my sister) lives here also, and we
travel a lot. In my spare time I read, exercise,
play bridge and volunteer a lot in our church.
I have experienced the best of life and the
worst of life. But that's what life is all about. I
think we are all fortunate that we grew up in
Sulphur. It was a wonderful and safe time to
be a teenager. It is great that we are all at a
time in our life when we can re-connect and
enjoy being together again. I only wish I lived
closer so I could get together with you'll more
often. But, I will see you in April for sure.
